+Amazon Frogbit is a hardy aquatic free floating plant which resembles a miniature water lily. The leaves range from 2-8cm depending on the time of year and have a lovely green glossy colour to them. The leaves float on the surface and grow from the middle and the roots flow freely in the water. Roots are ideal for surface dwellers such as gourami's and fry as it provides them with some protection and shelter.
It may produce a white flower with a yellow bud with adequate light and good fertilisation. Plants send out daughter plant runners multiplying at great speed. This plant will need maintenance if you have other aquatic plants below it as it may block out light to them. It is ideal in open-top aquariums or tanks with good ventilation otherwise the leaves may dry up under the lights.
This plant is not keen on being splashed with water so avoid placing them from a swift water flow or current. One portion of this plant comes in a 7.5cm x 2.5cm pot. The roots are often trimmed before sending them which does not affect the plant in any way and kept in water so always a chance of snails.
